A leather cover is a good gift for a specific reason: the person receiving it chooses what goes inside. You are not picking their paper, their ruling or their system. You are picking the outside.
That still leaves a few decisions, and two of them are hard to undo.
Size is the risky one
A6 or A5 is not a preference, it is a fit. An A6 cover holds A6 blocks and nothing else. If you know which notebook they already use, match it. If you do not, A5 is the safer guess for someone who writes at a desk and A6 for someone who carries one in a coat pocket.
And check that their notebook is a softcover. The block sits on an elastic cord through the spine, so it has to bend; a hardcover will not.
Initials are permanent
Up to ten characters, free, stamped in the bottom right corner of the front panel in gold foil, silver foil, or blind debossing with no foil at all. The impression is permanent and it grows more visible as the leather around it darkens.
Which makes it the best part of the gift and the part to be careful with. Check the spelling. If you are not certain they want their name on it, leave the field blank and it ships plain.
Colour is safer than it looks
The surface finish varies by leather: Ghost Wax has a pale wax layer, while Pueblo starts with a brushed texture. A colour you are unsure about will look more like itself in a year, not less.
If you want to play safe: Burgundy Buttero and Nero Pueblo hide marks well and suit almost anyone. If you want the gift to be noticed, Napoli Pueblo and Red Buttero are saturated, high-contrast choices.
Timing
Made-to-order covers take 5–7 working days before shipping, because nothing is made in advance. If you are late, check the Ready to Ship section for finished A6 pieces, 10% below the made-to-order price, and those leave in 1–2 working days. The logo on those is already stamped, so the foil for your text is fixed — message us and we will tell you which finish that particular cover carries.
Returns, said plainly
A cover stamped with personal text is not eligible for a change-of-mind return where the law permits this exception. Your statutory rights remain unaffected, including your rights if the cover is faulty or does not match your order.
