Some covers live on a desk. Others go through a bag next to keys and a laptop, then back out again. If that is how you use a notebook, the leather needs to suit that use.
Dollaro is the practical choice in our range. It is not the leather that makes every fold and mark part of its appearance. It does the opposite: it keeps the surface looking even while the notebook is being carried normally.
The grain has a job
Dollaro comes from Conceria Walpier and has a fine pebbled grain. The grain is not decoration. On a smooth hide, a small scratch can read as a line across the surface. On Dollaro, the mark lands in the texture instead. The grain breaks it up, so it is much less visible.
That matters most in the places a cover meets the rest of your day: the front of a bag, the edge of a desk, the things you put down on top of it without thinking. A Dollaro cover can look much the same on day two hundred as it did on day two, not because it has avoided use, but because small marks are less visible.
It does not make a record of every fold
The same applies to the fold. Freedom is pull-up leather: when it bends, the oils move and the crease goes pale. Rub it or keep using it, and the colour comes back. The pale lines are part of what you choose when you choose Freedom. They show where the cover has been folded and handled.
Ghost Wax has another kind of change. A pale wax layer sits over the colour, then rubs away where you hold the cover. The deeper colour underneath comes through, leaving a pattern made by your grip. This is also deliberate. Ghost Wax is meant to become visibly different with use.
Dollaro hides both kinds of evidence more readily. Its fold does not go pale, and its grain takes the attention away from small scuffs. There is no better choice here. There are three different answers to the same question: should the cover show what happened to it?
Choose the leather that matches your habits
- Choose Dollaro if the notebook is carried with everything else and you want the cover to keep looking even.
- Choose Freedom if the changing pale folds are something you want to see and handle.
- Choose Ghost Wax if you want the wax to wear back and reveal the colour underneath where you use it.
