Dark brown that goes lighter before it goes darker

Freedom Dark Brown is a pull-up hide from Conceria Walpier, oiled and deep. It behaves the opposite way round to what people expect from a dark leather: pressure makes it paler, not darker.

Fold it and a tan streak appears along the bend, because the oils carrying the colour move aside. Let it sit and the streak fills back in, most of the way. What builds up over a year is a dark ground with a network of lighter lines through it — the folds, the corners, the place the cover meets the edge of your desk every day.

Because the base colour is dark, the contrast here is stronger than on the ginger version, and it reads as texture rather than damage. The oiled surface also hides the ordinary scuffs a bag inflicts, so the marks that show are the ones you made on purpose.

The standard cover uses a modular elastic system and can carry two or three thin notebooks, depending on their thickness. If you need another layout, we can add extra holes and extra elastics before cutting.

The SLOWLINES logo is stamped in the finish you choose for your text: gold foil with gold, silver with silver, blind debossing with no foil on either. We do not mix the two.
